Bentleigh

Bentleigh is a compact residential suburb in Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria. Situated in the axes of the 1841 Special Survey by Henry Dendy, the community is located roughly 13 kilometres south-east of the Melbourne Central Business District. Previously known as East Brighton, the area was named in 1908 after Sir Thomas Bent, the 22nd Premier of Victoria. Its estimated population of 14,271 residents over an area of 4.7 square kilometres accounts for its density.

Bentleigh, which strongly developed in the early 1900s and rapidly grew in the 1950s, is part of the Local Government Area the City of Glen Eira. The community is within the State District of Bentleigh (in the Victorian Legislative Assembly), as well as the Federal Division of Goldstein (in the Australian House of Representatives). Its neighbouring suburbs are Bentleigh East, Brighton East, Hampton East, McKinnon, and Moorabbin.

Bentleigh's locals and visitors will always find something of interest thanks to the community's various recreational outlets. Some of the suburb's more notable facilities for trying these activities out include the Balmoral Calisthenics Clubs, Bentleigh Bowling Club, Bentleigh Club, Bentleigh Sunday Market, Cinema and Theatre Historical Society, Life Activities Club, Rather Be Diving, and West Bentleigh Cricket Club.

Bentleigh is also famous for its natural attractions, which are easily accessible within the area. Some spots that are worth the visit include Alnutt Park, Bentleigh Memorial Gardens, Bentleigh Reserve, Centenary Park, Halley Park, Hodgson Reserve, and Victory Park.
